Multi-days treks from Bario to Ba'kelalan; 4 days hiking 3-8 hours per day. The trek passes through a long stretch of primary forest but includes dirt tracks as well.

DAY 1 (D)

MIRI | BARIO VALLEY

Take a flight from Miri to Bario using rural air services. Upon arrival, transfer to Longhouse at Pa'Ukat, before we proceed for a sightseeing tour of Bario Valley. Bario in Kelabit Highlands lies at an elevation of 1000 meter well above the steamy jungle covered coastal plain. The mountain surrounding this highland reaches up to over 2000 meter, which make for chilly evenings. The Kelabit people are among Borneo's best rice farmers, the fragrant highland rice is much sought. Then, return to the longhouse and experience authentic food and culture of the Kelabit tribal lifestyle. Overnight at Lodge.

DAY 2 (B / L / D)

BARIO VALLEY | PA LUNGAN | LONG REPUNG

After an early breakfast, we visit the Ritoh monument. After visiting this ancient Kelabit burial ground, we will start our trekking journey passing through Pa'Lungan en route Long Repung. We stop at local canteen for lunch before we continue the hardest part of the trek which involve a fairly strenuous climb over Singkulup Hill, and a few of river crossings. This will take you to a jungle shelter by late evening in Long Repung which mark the mid point of your journey. Dinner will be served before retire for the night.

DAY 3 (B / L /D)

LONG REPUNG | BA KELALAN

We have our early breakfast and start our journey for the day. The next part of your journey leads you into the Indonesian territory and will take about 5 hours before we cross over the Ra'an Bulu Hill which marks the Malaysian / Indonesian Border. After a stop at the Bamboo plantation for Lunch, we will continue our journey onto an Indonesian village of Pa' Rubai, where the Lun Dayeh tribe resides. The trek continue for another 2-3 hours through the paddy fields before we arrive in Ba Kelalan by late afternoon. Check into at Lodge. Free at leisure and overnight at Lodge in Ba' Kelalan.

DAY 4 (B / L / D)

BA KELALAN | KELABIT  HIGHLAND

Ba Kelalan is an isolated but extremely friendly small town surrounded by glistening green rice paddies, buffaloes pulling sledges of produce across the fields and the famous Kelabit highlanders, a graceful and elegant people who make their living as rice-farmers. Many of the older generation still have pierced, elongated earlobes and wear traditional hats of rice stalks. After breakfast, we will visit a local salt spring, this salt spring is an important source of income for the people and wildlife who inhabit this remote area far from town and removed from coast. No outcrop was seen at the surface in the vicinity of the swamp which accurs in the soil cover of the area. Take an opportunity to pick an apple from an apple orchard and get a glimpse of a typical day in the life of Ba Kelalan family. Overnight at Lodge.

DAY 5

DEPARTURE

After local breakfast fly to Miri and have your departure flight home.
