Bario is famous for its Bario Rice or known as ‘Adan’ rice by the Lun Bawang. The planting season will be from May till June and harvesting will be from Dec to Jan. The Kelabit traditional rice recipe is called ‘nuba laya’ or soft rice, where the steaming hot mashed rice is wrapped in ‘isip’ or ‘itip’ leaf. ‘Nuba laya’ is to be eaten with other side dishes.
